The Chester Municipal Heritage Society (CMHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the heritage of the Municipality of Chester, Nova Scotia. Our mission is to celebrate and maintain Chester's unique history for future generations.

The Rope Loft – Restaurant, Pub & Marina is located in Chester’s front harbour. We are known for our light-cream-based chowders and fresh local lobster.

Zoé Vallé Memorial Library

This historic sea captain’s house, the former home of Zoé Vallé Lightfoot, has been a community library and civic centre since 1928. Now partnered with South Shore Public Libraries, the Zoé Vallé Library is open daily Mon-Sat. Children’s, adults’ and heritage collections; free public wi-fi and computer access; activities and events. Visitors can also enjoy our beautiful grounds, gardens, and the Lightfoot Tower
